TSS

I feel like I have gotten NOTHING accomplished in February. Do you ever have those times? When you feel like you are running around like crazy, stressing out over everything, but when you look back it is like – where did the time go and what in the H did I do with it? Yes, well it’s been one of those months for me. I have only finished FOUR books this month. For me, that is awful – it is basically a book every 5 days, when typically I can read a book every 2-3 days, plus audiobooks.

So what have I been doing instead? Watching a lot of TV, for one. Spring TV shows are kicking my butt, my DVR is so backed up it’s ridiculous. Last weekend I wasn’t feeling well so I barely read a sentence, instead I was almost catatonic in front of the TV for two days straight. Oh, and I took a few naps. I have been stressed about work, but unfortunately that’s nothing I’m able or willing to discuss here at this time. Just… I don’t know. A lot of time spent not reading, basically.

This weekend has been a busy one, actually. Yesterday I spent the majority of the day at a good friend’s baby shower and in the evening I attempted to go to the Kelly Clarkson concert at Universal. I say attempted because, while we got into the concert (everyone with season passes gets in free), the pace was absolute chaos and I was so annoyed at the disorganization of it all that we ended up leaving just before she began singing. Oh well. This morning I had brunch with another good friend (which included Mimosas, so right now I’m fighting the urge to nap), and I will spend the remainder of the day working on my million-items-long to-do list. I will be lucky if I get a quarter of these things done. But a girl can hope, right?

Yesterday I reviewed The Kitchen Counter Cooking School and I didn’t include in my review the fact that I’ve now made one of the recipes in the book – Basic Alfredo Sauce – and it turned out SO yummy! I always thought Alfredo sauce was super complicated and difficult to make, but it was one of the easiest things I’ve cooked and it. was. delicious.!

This week will be another busy week. I have small group on Wednesday night, book club Thursday night, a meeting for work all day Thursday, and I may or may not be working Saturday as well. I am definitely going to need a good night’s sleep tonight to prepare for the week ahead.

Well that’s about all I’ve got for today. I would LOVE to finish a book today, and ideally I will write one or two reviews. We shall see.

What are you up to this weekend?

  1. Well, I leave for work early every day so I have an hour to myself to sit in my car and read. But it takes me a long time to finish a book that way. Life happens and we do have tons of other things to do…but that’s ok. You need to mix it up now and then! Keep it interesting. 🙂

    1. I agree! I don’t have much extra time during my work days, so it’s usually at night before bed and on the weekends when I read. But when I start getting busy and/or social, that goes out the window! Oh well.

  2. I was over at Islands of Adventure yesterday! We went to the Mardi Gras thing a year or two ago and it was awful how crazy it was!! I felt like I was going to get trampled!! I wanted to go today to see Boys II Men, but it’s just not even worth it I don’t think to deal with that.

    1. It was INSANITY! What made me mad was that it could have been organized SO much better. The people leaving the park and coming into the park were all in one huge sea of people… they should have designated an “out” section and an “in” section and it would have been so much better. I love Islands and Universal though – we go all the time!

  3. Personally I think it’s fun to be catatonic in front of the TV from time to time…you don’t always have to be reading, but I know it’s frustrating if you want to be reading!

What are your spring shows btw?

I hope things start going better for you!

    1. Wow, what a question, Amy, what aren’t my shows would be a better one! 😉 LOL, no seriously though I watch way too much TV. There are very few shows I don’t watch, in fact. Right now the biggest contenders for spots on my DVR are Once Upon a Time, Survivor, Desperate Housewives (which, thank goodness, is in its final season), Amazing Race (starting tonight!!), Revenge (I’m only 6 episodes behind, horrible!), Pretty Little Liars, Grey’s Anatomy, Biggest Loser (5 episodes behind), American Idol (5 episodes behind)… oh and we have Alcatraz recorded but haven’t started watching it yet. That’s not everything… I’m telling you… it’s bad.

  4. Yes, I feel like that. Seems more often than not lately. It’s frustrating to end my days feeling incomplete and not finished. I get so excited when I’m able to cross something off my list only for it to be short-lived. Within minutes, three more items are added. It’s a never-ending cycle!

My DVR is overflowing too. This week I ended up deleting shows I know I’ll never watch. I’m only one episode behind on Revenge and about two or three on Grey’s and Once Upon a Time. Reading has slowed down too. Long days at work equals a tired me in the evenings and I’m lucky if I am still awake after 8:30pm.

March has to be better, right?!

  5. Awww: I’ve felt pretty unproductive most of this year (except for on the ‘watching TV via Netflix streaming’ front)! I’m trying to cut myself some slack though, in the secret hope that once I relax I’ll just suddenly revert to my normal level of productivity (which is, granted, still lower than most people’s!). In the meantime, at least Netflix has some excellent viewing options.

  6. I say celebrate your lassitude and burn that “to do” list. Obviously your body needs this quiet time to renew itself and has wrestled you to the sofa and forced you to nap. Staying in the writing/reading creative side of your brain as you do for extended periods of time has exhausted you. Hibernating is good … ’tis the season.

  7. Too bad you couldn’t see Kelly Clarkson. I really like her. Given the disorganization of the crowd, though, I can understand why you didn’t stick around.
I’m really surprised by how busy the past few weeks have been. Usually winter is a bit slower in pace but not this year. I’ve managed to read a book/week but that’s well below my norm. I hope you feel better!

  8. I also feel like I haven’t gotten anything done, and have spent a lot of time staring into space and listening to music. I also found Downton Abbey, and have been watching back to back episodes of that as well. I blame it on the insane stress of my life right now. I just don’t have the ability to cope with it all, and keep focused. I guess I am just going to have to wait it out, but I wanted you to know that I understand.

  9. I swear when I was a kid and I was sick, I read and read. But now, I’m like you – I just can’t read at all when I’m sick. Being stressed about work probably is carrying over into your evenings making it hard to read, too. It’s hard to put your mind elsewhere when you’re stressed about something. Hope you have a better March!
