Ok, I tried… I have read 150 pages of Nation by Terry Pratchett and am just not getting into it. I don’t know what it is because I am definitely intrigued by the premise and I think it sounds so interesting, but the book is just not grabbing me. I think it has to do with the characters – I haven’t connected with any of them, and that’s a huge thing for me. I NEED to have some interest in at least one of the major characters. So, unfortunately, I’m giving up on this one. It’s very rare that I give up on books, especially this far into them, but it’s just not worth my time to read a book I’m not enjoying when there’s so many more I WILL enjoy.
Sorry it didn’t work for you.
I try to finish every book, but like you, realized there are just too many good books to read to waste time. 150 pages was big effort!

I confess that I ripped through this one in one evening; but I do understand what you mean about the lack of character attachment. Though I confess, I don’t really need to have too much interest or personal investment in the characters to read a book. Have you read anything else by Pratchett? Now I’m curious if his other books read like this too…
really? I thought the characters were the best part of this book! a pity it didn’t work for you…
