An announcement, a challenge, and some self-promotion :)
Hi everyone – a few things I wanted to announce, so I decided to just do one big post. The first thing is the fact that the 24 Hour Read-a-Thon has been scheduled for this spring – the date is April 18-19, 2009, beginning at 12:00 pm GMT. The Read-a-Thon now has its own website, so you should definitely drop by and check it out if you haven’t already. I am embarrassed to admit this, but I’ve never actually participated in a Read-a-Thon myself. I work 8-hour days on Saturdays, so honestly it just doesn’t work out for me – by the time I get home from work and get some food in me, it’s already 5 or 6 and I feel so far behind that I don’t feel inspired to even try. Also, Saturday is usually the night that my husband and I spend together so I feel bad taking that away when we don’t spend enough time together as it is. So, I’m debating on whether or not to attempt the upcoming Read-a-Thon, at least for a few hours. I’m still on the fence. But I LOVE the concept, and I have tons of fun reading everyones’ posts during that time. It really is a great event – I highly recommend getting involved.
Second, I am going to participate in Carl’s Once Upon a Time III Challenge. I’m going to sign up for the easiest and simplest level, The Journey, and I honestly have no clue how many books I’ll read for it. Maybe only one or two. But I love the idea of this challenge, and I especially love some of the people who are enthusiastic about it (Nymeth, I’m talking about you!). So I will just see what happens with that.
It’s always good to try new things, right?
Ok, the last thing is that I’ve been FEATURED on a website!! The fabulous ladies of Style Substance Soul contacted me and asked if I would want to be part of their showcase feature – I said of course! The website is great – check out their info page here so you can see what these ladies are all about. And here is where you can find me! They may still be looking for blogs to feature so if you are impressed with their site, go ahead and email them to find out.
Now I have to write about a billion reviews… I’m a little behind, and I’m not reading much right now so I may space them out more than I have been. If you don’t see too many reviews from me in the next week or so that would be why.
Enjoy what’s left of the weekend, everyone!

Hey, congratulations!
I know just how you feel about the 24 hour read-a-thons. I work on Saturdays too and so it doesn’t ever seem to work out.
I’m so glad you are joining in on this challenge. Thank you so much for doing so. I hope you get a bunch of great reading done!
Thanks, Carl! I’m definitely excited about the challenge… now I just have to figure out what in the heck I am going to read!

Congrats on your feature! and it’s okay about the read-a-thon…maybe you could do your own sometime.
Haha, thanks Amy. Actually I think I do my own mini read a thons every few nights when I can’t put down my current book!
I know that there is no way I could do the whole readathon, but I am thinking that it is more about participating anyway, so I am thinking about it. Haven’t totally decided yet though!
I’m thinking I’ll do it for a little bit too. Nymeth actually sort of inspired me in her comment below to at least be a cheerleader… I’m definitely considering that, too.
I’ve been a cheerleader before, and it is fun to do! I can assure you I ended up spending far more than an hour though!
i’m participating in my very own read-a-thon…on accident. i started reading a book on friday evening and stayed up until 2:30am. stayed up until 2am last night in an effort to finish it.
does that qualifiy?
nat @ book, line, and sinker
That TOTALLY counts! I do the same thing every now and then with a book I just can’t put down.
Congratulations on the feature! And thank you for your kind words
It’s too bad you can’t participate in the read-a-thon, but thank you so much for helping us spread the word. And if you have an hour to spare that weekend, maybe you could be a cheerleader for a bit!
You’re welcome – they are well deserved. Yes, maybe I will be a cheerleader, though it would probably have to be later at night, maybe 10 or 11 my time (central standard)? When do I have to sign up by?
Carl is a fun challenge host – this is my second year doing OUAT and really enjoy it!!
I haven’t had the chance to participate in a readathon either but I do love reading all of the posts on it. I joined the Once Upon a Time Challenge as well and am really lookking forward to it.
If you ever want to read a reader’s feedback
, I rate this post for four from five. Decent info, but I just have to go to that damn msn to find the missed parts. Thank you, anyway!
